Having two small children, I open a lot of birthday party invitations. I also have a great perspective on gifts that parents like to see come across the present table – not too noisy, no small parts, preferably no batteries, and usefulness/practicality is a bonus!
My go-to gift these days is a personalized zipper bag with a few fun, kid-friendly and age-appropriate items inside. I think I add a special touch by stitching something related to the “theme” of the party, if it’s obvious by the invitation.
Last weekend we attended a very special party, for my older son’s “best friend” at preschool, Dominic. His invitation had the Pac-man video game graphics on it, so I decided to add a quick circle and dots to his bag to mimic the theme. You could add anything you’d like, just make sure to line it up correctly in your Embrilliance Essentials software, and do that step on your machine before you complete the last steps to seal up your bag.
I know my kids love Paw Patrol, so for the goodies inside Dominic’s bag I chose a Paw Patrol coloring book and a package of Crayola Ultra Clean Washable markers (take it from a mom of boys – these things are AMAZING! They really are super washable!). I could not believe that I actually had a Pac-man themed fold-over elastic; I used that as the little elastic handle for the bag. You could also use this as a zipper pull or strap for a crossbody bag!
